Most of the structures within which we continue to do education presuppose separated, siloed areas of study. But that is not at the heart of the Christian Liberal Arts and Sciences tradition! How can the Arts not only thrive in cross-disciplinary endeavors, but actually lead the way within your school in showing how interconnected, multi-layered CCE education can be done – and done well?
Jerry King is the Arts Director at The Covenant School in Charlottesville, Virginia. He has been active in Arts education in independent schools, fulltime church and campus ministry, private instruction and cross-cultural contexts for decades. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Kenyon College, he has lived and taught out of the liberal arts sensibility with a lively interest in an array of areas including art history, ecology, design for theater, livable theology, a capella arranging and organic gardening. He and his wife of 35 years have six children and eight grandchildren scattered from sea to shining sea.
